Ghent West is set in modern-day Belgium and focuses on Véronique when she first enters prison after being charged with the attempted murder of her husband. Véro is separated from her daughter and sent to Ghent West on remand where she lives in “an uncertain limbo” until she is sentenced. Starting at the bottom of the prisons hierarchy, Véro is forced to learn how to survive in prison.

Ghent-West is based on the Australian format “Wentworth” developed and produced by FremantleMedia Australia Pty Ltd.
